This is my first official post, how exciting! I get asked most frequently about eyebrows, my eyebrows, how to shape them, how to fill in sparse brows, so I figured brows would be a great place to begin! Eyebrows frame the whole face, and have the ability to instantly make you look younger, more awake, and more put together, so, lets get into it!
The products that I am going to discuss are my go-to's both in my professional kit, as well as my personal collection. Starting from the top, left corner, MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Embark, I adore using shadows to fill in brows. It is one of the easiest, quickest fixes! Shadows work best for brows that already have a decent shape, and texture, with a little bit of sparseness. The shadow does need hair to grab on to, so you wouldn't use this on someone who had shaved the brow, or had experienced a lot of hair loss. MAC shadows are very pigmented, and come in such a wonderful variety of matte shades, so you can always find the correct color/colors for your brow! (*make sure you only use matte powders when filling in your brows, no shimmer!!) My current routine is shadow with a sephora, angled brush, and a little bit of Anastasia Brow Whiz, which I will get into in the next paragraph!
Next up is the Anastasia Dipbrow. This is a product that I find people either LOVE, or HATE! There is no in between! I think it is amazing, obviously! It is a hybrid of a mousse, and a gel, super pigmented, and it is completely waterproof. (I have gone swimming, worked out, and cried with this on! It really does not budge!!) I love this product because it also makes it very easy to manipulate real hair strokes. It makes it absolutely perfect for people who have little to no brows. This product also comes in such a great variety of shades, and a little bit goes a long way, so you really get your money's worth! I love combine this with mac shadows for a waterproof brow fill.
I love to use a mix of high, and low price point items, and the next product is SUCH A BARGAIN! The Sonia Kashuk Arch Alert Brow Kit is a staple in my professional kit. This perfect little quad offers a wax/creme tint in dark brown, auburn, ash light brown, and blonde shades. It gives the brow hair a nice firm hold, adds color, and drys to a powdery finish. I use this in conduction with shadows and pencils, as well as on its own for those who just need a little taming. You can purchase it at Target, and I believe it is only $12.00! Sweet score!
Next are my two holy grail, can not live without, products! Tweezerman tweezers in the pointed tip, and Anastasia Brow Whiz. Tweezerman makes the pointiest, longest lasting tweezers that I have ever tried. They are perfect for isolating little straggler hairs, and they pull out the hair crisply, and quickly! If I had to pick ONE brow product to take with me to a desert island, it would be the Anastasia Brow Whiz Pencil. Perfect, powdery, blendable texture, water resistant, super easy to work with, it is the perfect product. I always recommend pencils for those who are just learning how to fill in their brows because it gives you more control. The trick is to use quick, fluttery strokes, and blend, rather than trying to literally draw your brows on in one full swoop! Don't do that!! Also, the brow whiz comes with the most perfect spooly for blending the pencil!
And last, my favorite brushes are the Sephora slanted liner brush, and the smash box brow brush. I prefer the sephora one for myself because it is thinner, and uses synthetic hair. I like a very carved out, arched brow, and it is easier to achieve that using a thinner, synthetic bristle. (This brush works great with Anastasia DipBrow!) The smash box brush is natural bristles, and thicker, so it works well for achieving a more natural, fuller brow.
I am always playing around with new products, and brushes, but as someone who has struggled with *very* sparse brows for most of her life, I stand behind these products as my perfect, no fail brow arsenal! I hope this helps, and honestly, the more you practice, the better those brows will look!
